  • Anne Bartlett

Anne Bartlett opened Riverwood Gardens in 2012 in a rental property, purchasing the current location between Durham and Hanover in 2015. Today, Riverwood offers a good selection of high-quality plant material, specializing in uncommon ornamentals to help your garden stand out and become your little piece of Eden.

Their extensive display gardens are open for touring for a nominal fee. These sculpted gardens are designed to inspire, featuring more than 100 different species of woody plants, hundreds of varieties of daylilies and hostas, and one of the largest conifer and peony collections in Grey and Bruce counties, as well as Japanese maples, rhododendrons, and hydrangeas.

  • Ben Caesar

Ben Caesar is the owner of Fiddlehead Nursery in Kimberley, Ontario, which he has operated since 2012. Ben was introduced to permaculture and forest gardening through a friend in Guelph, where he filled his small urban yard with edible perennials before moving to the Beaver Valley in the spring of 2011. Permaculture and food forest gardening is one of the best ways to sequester carbon in the soil while growing food for ourselves! Good for you and good for the earth!

Fiddlehead Nursery grows edible perennials, shrubs and trees and sells plants that survive our Grey County winters, unless otherwise noted.

Fiddlehead Nursery uses only natural ingredients in their soil mixes and fertilizers. Ben does not use pesticides, fungicides or herbicides on his farm, uses compost and nitrogen-fixing plants, and uses mulch or perennial groundcovers for low-maintenance gardens.

Ben also runs Edible Ecosystem Workshops at Fiddlehead Nursery where you can learn how to grow and eat the bounty from these edible perennials, shrubs and trees.
